Anthony Burger Suffers Fatal Heart Attack

Thursday February 23, 2006
One of gospel music's premier musicians, Anthony Burger, suffered a fatal heart attack on Wednesday night. Preliminary reports indicate that Anthony was actually on stage when the attack occurred. Anthony, and his wife, LuAnn were on the Gaither Homecoming Cruise all this week. Anthony has long been a guest artist and pianist for the Gaither Vocal Band and for Gaither's Homecoming concerts.

Some of the more recent highlights of Anthony's career include playing to sold-out crowds all over the world such as on Broadway with Mark Lowry in 2000, Carnegie Hall with the Gaithers in April of 2002, and then in October 2002 in Australia at the Sydney Opera House.

Anthony leaves behind his wife LuAnn and their children, Lori, AJ and Austin. He was 44 years old. No further details are available at this time.

Just a note to let you know I really enjoyed watching and hearing Anthony on the Gaithers homecoming shows. My husband died the same way and it does change your life. Thank the good Lord they are christians and we will see them again.

I was so sad to hear of Anthony’s Temporary Sleep until the Lord returns. Just heard but I am very hopeful that we shall see him playing in the heavenly coridors. My mind rushes to a young lady by the name of Fordam, oh She could sing. At the sound of the Trumpet when the Lord retuns, WHAT A JOYOUS OCCASIONS IT IS GOING TO BE, PRAISE THE LOIRD.
