Casting CrownsSince the first Dove Awards were handed out in 1969, the annual ceremony has been held in Nashville, Tennessee. At this year's awards, held at the Grand Ole Opry House, there was no hint that change was coming. However, the Gospel Music Association has announced that the Dove Awards will move to Atlanta, Georgia, home of the Gospel Music Channel, for 2011. The 2011 Dove Awards will be held in Atlanta's historic and fabulous Fox Theatre on April 20, 2011. The GMA is working with the city of Atlanta to make sure that Dove Award activities will take place in close proximity to the Fox Theatre, to create an intimate atmosphere for attendees, artists and industry VIPs.

wow. seeing that GMC did such a great job with the Doves, why not? :-/ GMC shows hardly any Christian music videos or music programming anymore – it’s all “sister sister,” “dr. quinn” and other 80’s/90’s junk. they even changed the name from Gospel Music Channel to something else utterly forgettable. the only music shows they have are old reruns late at night – so perfect for families to watch and teens to be uplifted by! the dove awards “telecast” was a joke – obviously heavily (and badly) edited and lacking in performances and any semblance of continuity. is Nashvegas no longer the “centre of CCM/gospel music?” maybe the doves and ccm in general needs some fresh air. hopefully atlanta will supply that. piffle.
