From a brand new band on the national scene, this one really blew me away. BarlowGirl has a lot to offer and I believe that their debut is only scratching the surface ... I think that these sisters will be bringing a whole lot more great music to the table in the future.
The Songs of 'BarlowGirl'
Pedestal: This song, while lyrically deep, is a happy sounding tune with a great flow and a unique tempo.
Never Alone: This is my favorite cut on the CD. It's got a beautiful, passionate intro that is soulful and heartfelt. Lyrically, it's an emotional song with a real punch and vocally it shows off the sisters vocal ability quite well.
Harder Than the First Time: Great song ... pop that has a good, heavy backbeat and a little edge to it.
You Led Me: Conflicting harmonies that absolutely work and a good example of their diversity.
Mirror: This song should be an anthem for every teenage girl on the planet. It's got a really nice ebb and flow from mellow (complete with strings) to edgy and back to mellow again.
Superstar: Another great Barlow Girl tune. My 16 year old's favorite.
Clothes: Great message with a little bit of punk flair.
She Walked Away: A song that makes you think long and hard about how your actions affect others.
Average Girl: This is my 9 year old daughters favorite song and I liked it too ... the first 1500 or so times that I heard it!
