Guide Review - Paul Colman Trio - 'One'
I read reviews on this CD before I got it and wasn't sure what to expect. The love it/hate it scale was about 50/50. I was pleasantly surprised by "I'll Be With You," "Solution," "Your Man," "Big Blue Planet" and "Who Do You Say?". I was OK with five of the other songs ... not too hot and not too cold, but "The Birthday Song" and "Save My Soul" were two songs that made me want to run from the room screaming. Paul Colman himself said that "'One' picks up where 'New Map of the World' left off" and I have to agree there. Not really a bad thing if you're looking for the same sound, but not a good thing if you're looking for some growth and or/change. Bottom line for me was a little disappointment because I expected more from this talented bunch.
