August 2003 Calendar

All good times take time and effort and nothing worth having comes overnight. That's what my mom always told me growing up. She was right. I've been your Guide to Christian Music for almost three months now. At first things weren't easy to come by. Nobody knew who I was ... not the labels, not the management companies, not the PR folks. There wasn't a Guide to Christian Music for a while so the stream dried up. If I wanted to review a CD I had to buy it once it hit the stores - no advance copies, or I had to get really lucky. If I wanted to interview an artist I had to send a letter to their fan club, who would forward it to their label, who would check with their management company and then, once they had all decided that they had no idea who I was, my request would get put on the back-burner.

Things have definitely changed now. The "powers that be" now know that "there's a new sheriff in town" and things are taking off with a bullet! So the site will continue to grow ... not by leaps and bounds (I'm just one person), but steadily and with some great content.

August is going to be a busy month. Here are some of the things that you can look for in the upcoming weeks.

  I've been invited to one of Todd's shows, so there will be some great pics
• Toccoa Fest 2003 Coverage
  I'll be right there, in the thick of things (as they say). Look for interviews with MercyMe, NewSong, Ginny Owens, Plus One, Tait, Detour 180, Todd Agnew, Royal Ruckus, Mizzie, and speaker Ken Freeman and even more great pics.
• Interview with Mary Lou O'Hern
  Following her debut release, we'll see how things have been going for Mary Lou.
• Interview with Tim Gaines of Stryer
  Stryper will be kicking off a 20 year reunion tour before you know it.
