If you remember Raze, you have to remember Mizzie. She was one of the two female vocalists with the group. Since the group disbanded she has been working on a solo career and it looks as if things are going well for her.

Exclusive Interview with Mizzie

Kim: I'm talking with Mizzie, who's going to be on stage shortly. How are you doing today?

Mizzie: I'm doing great. It's a little bit hot...very hot.

Kim: Where are you from originally?

Mizzie: Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Kim: Well, you're used to hot weather then. Oklahoma isn't exactly in the north! (laughs)

Mizzie: Yeah, but you know, there's places to go inside, whereas here.... We have our bus though, which is cool. (laughs)

Kim: Have you been here at Toccoa before?

Mizzie: You know, I'm not sure. Maybe with the other band that I was in but I don't remember. I don't think so.

Kim: I didn't get any PR info. on you before the show, so tell me all about Mizzie.

Mizzie: (laughs) Well, Mizzie is a lovely girl who comes from Tulsa, Oklahoma. (laughs) I've been performing all of my life. I joined a band when I was 19 and toured and performed with them for about seven years. That band was called Raze. We finished up two years ago and I've just been working on this solo thing since then. It's just taken off and I'm very excited about it.

Kim: Do you have a CD coming out?

Mizzie: Yeah - December. Sometime in December there should be a full length CD.

Kim: What's it going to be called?

Mizzie: It might be called Save Me, that's kind of our working title, but not for sure. We'll just use that as the working title for now.

Kim: If you had to categorize what style of music you perform, what would you call it?

Mizzie: It would be pop, with a little bit of rock, a little bit of dance and a little bit of funk. It's got a little flava of a few different things.

Kim: Who's in the band with you?

Mizzie on stage Mizzie: Me and my DJ Heather. Sometimes we have a drummer named Jamie Davis, he's amazing. On Festival Con Dios we'll probably have a guitar player as well, so that will be cool. We're just kind of building as we go.

Kim: I hope to see you at Festival in Atlanta. That's big time.

Mizzie: (laughs) Well, we're not big time yet.

Me and Mizzie Kim: Hey, you're getting there. You're sharing the stage with...

Mizzie: Some really great artists.

Kim: One of the questions that I see so much of is this... how can anything not out of a hymnal be of God. So how do you deal with people who don't want to give your music and your message a chance because they can't get past the beat?

Mizzie: You know, everyone is different and everyone has their own taste. The kind of people that this music relates to are not the same kind of people that gospel would relate to, you know, like the Gaithers. So there's a place for everyone and I think that it's important for all of us to embrace all kinds of music because it reaches all people groups. So I just kind of leave it at that and don't take it personally and know that everybody has different tastes. Not everyone is going to like the same things that I do and they can't expect me to like the same things that they do.

Kim: Do you have a web site where people can find out more about you? I didn't get a web site address from the promoters at Toccoa and I couldn't find anything through the search engines when I looked.

Mizzie: Yeah, it's mizzieonline.com We're getting that set up now. There's a page up that has some information on it and we'll get the rest of the site going very soon.

Kim: Cool. I'll keep an eye out for the site to grow. Is there anything that you'd like to say in closing?

Mizzie: Nope, I think that's it. This has been fun. Thanks.
