In 2007, Anberlin's lead singer, Stephen Christian was interviewed by the Kansas City Star. He seemed to take offense at being labeled as a "Christian band." Digging deeper showed that the band doesn't have a problem with Christianity; their faith defines how they live. Their problem seemed to be more about having a label slapped on them that requires no further digging. Stephen explained when he said, "Anberlin are humanitarians. We've gone to Haiti and India and Muldova region and are planning a trip to Africa with the One campaign. How about mentioning how we put our faith into practice?"
