Chapman is also a huge advocate for adoption; so much so that his family has established Shaohannahs Hope, an organization that provides information and financial grants to families who want to adopt. - He is married to Mary Beth Chapman, and they have 5 children - Emily, Caleb, Will Franklin, Shaohannah, Stevey Joy. Their daughter Maria Sue died on May 21, 2008.
- Steven has written 7 books: 3 Shaoey books as well as Great Adventure (2001), I Will Be Here (2000) and Speechless (1999)
- The Chapman family created "Shaohannah's Hope," a foundation to help families with funding for adoption (Shaohannahshope.com) in 2002
- Steven got a star on the Music City Walk of Fame in 2008.
