Guide Review - Michelle McKinney Hammond - 'Release the Pain, Embrace the Joy'
Michelle McKinney Hammond's latest book was written for women who have had their hearts broken, and after being happily married for the past 13 years, I really wondered if I would be able to relate to it. But I found that the situations that she speaks of could actually be worked around to cover heart-break from any source in many cases. Putting your all into anything, be it a love relationship, a parent-child relationship, a job, a friend, etc. and having it stomped on is a definite heart-breaker. Michelle's sound advice works for any of those situations.A real highlight was the way she used characters from the Bible to illustrate her points. You find yourself looking a situations from Scripture in a whole new way - a much more human suffering type of way. Another favorite part of the book was the wonderful prayers at the end of each chapter. This lady wrote some of the most beautiful and moving prayers I have ever heard or read. You find yourself praying her words, adding your own names, places, etc. and meaning it more than you thought possible.
Finally, there is the advice. It's obvious that this woman has lived it - she's not just writing about something she read in a textbook. Her advice is so strong that I've given copies of the book to my 18 y/o daughter, my band mates and a lady that I recently met who is in the middle of the break-up of a 10+ year relationship.
If you've ever had your heart broken by anything, this book is a wonderful healing tool for you.
