Guide Review - Margaret Becker - Coming Up For Air
Boy was I surprised! This lady had somehow been living my life, despite her acclaim. When she spoke of feeling like she was chasing her life, catching up every now and then, and then finding herself resuming the chase, I could relate. When she wrote about spreading herself too thin in trying to help every wounded person or good cause that she came across, I understood. When she talked about feeling like something was off, but not knowing what, so she simply prayed, "Lord, You know where I am if You are feeling chatty. Otherwise , I am going to try to rest in Your silence," and then struggled to shut her mind off, I was there!
Throughout the 34 chapters I alternated between loving Margaret Becker and really not liking her. As she opened up her own soul, and in turn, made me look at mine, I admired her courage and struggled not to cry over the realizations I was having about my own life.
If you're ready for some real honesty, mixed with a self-depreciating humor, and you're ready to look in the mirror, then get your hands on a copy of this book. It's worth it.
