With Four RIAA-certified Platinum albums, 19 Dove Awards and 1 American Music Award, Casting Crowns has been the most played artist on all Christian radio formats combined and is the fastest CCM artist in its career to have its first two albums certified Platinum, and only the second in RIAA history ever to achieve it (the other being Jars of Clay).
There are so many songs that Casting Crowns has put out that touch people where they live that it is hard to pick favorites, but these are mine.
1. "Praise You In This Storm"
Full of passion and a sense of worship, "Praise You In This Storm" is a song that everyone and anyone can relate to because we've all had storms in our lives and we've all needed to be reminded that as long as there is life, there is hope.
2. "Who Am I"
The 2005 Dove Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year asks the question ...
"Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt?"
It reminds each of us that we are who and what we are not because of anything we've done but because of what Jesus did for us.
3. "Your Love Is Extravagant"
4. "Father, Spirit, Jesus"
The catchy "Father, Spirit, Jesus" could easily become the next big thing in corporate youth worship. It's easy to sing along with, has lyrics that really tap you on the shoulder as a reminder of what worship should be, and has enough of a rock sound to keep your attention.
5. "Glorious Day (Living He Loved Me)"
"Glorious Day (Living He Loved Me)" serves as a reminder that Jesus died for our sins, but that wasn't the end of the story. He beat death and (one Glorious Day) will come back.
6. "Stained Glass Masquerade"
"Stained Glass Masquerade" reminds the church that none of us are perfect, but when we try to act as though we are, while in church with our peers, we become "Happy plastic people under shiny plastic steeples with walls around our weakness and smiles to hide our pain."
