LastPageFirst - 'Get Your Story Straight' - CD Review
I'm a music-lover of the first degree. There's very little musically that I can't enjoy. That being said, I'm not going to choose punk first; it's just not my first instinct. But I'll tell you what: these four guys (Jeremy Call - lead vox, guitar, Mike Tandle - bass, James Longstreet - vox, drums, and Nathan Gergory - vox, guitar) could convert me if anybody could. Open up your mind and give LastPageFirst a shot; they will win you over, body and soul.
Here's what I love about LPF: they're passionate truth-tellers, speaking for their generation with heartfelt fervor about relationships, with God, girls and friends. Musically, they are a tight rhythm section that doesn't give an inch. This CD is extremely well-produced; every song is clear as a bell and intelligently written. It's not all overtly God-stuff and I like that too. It's life stuff and God is all over that. Check out "Overdosed," a breath-takingly beautiful postmodern lament for sincerity. I'm telling you, these guys have their finger on the pulse of a generation and they're telling it true and ... I'm ranting now but don't try to stop me, you won't find a better cause! Whether they're singing about God ("Some Sweet Story") or love (the wonderfully dreamy "Miss You Tonight") or, most interesting, friendships (the powerful "Song for You" or "Tomorrow"), they score every time at bat. And don't miss "Superhero", fun with a message and delightfully well-written. These guys are very smart and very good. I sound like the president of their fan club, I know, I'm sorry, but what can a girl do? They're just that good.
