The Bottom Line
While the re-release of the 12 songs from Hawk Nelson's debut CD are still as good as they were the first time-around, it's still the same 12 songs on! The videos are cool and the bonus material is good, but why do it? Why not just release an EP of the new material to hold fans over until their sophmore release comes out next year?

Cons

Guide Review - Hawk Nelson - 'Letters To The President: Deluxe Edition'
One of the nicest surprises of this release was where Jason Dunn (lead vocals) introduced the band's appearance on the TV show American Dreams (last fall) and then you hear their version of The Who's "My Generation" from the episode. One of the biggest disappointments was the "live" version of "Letters To The President" video. I was expecting Hawk Nelson, on stage, singing their hearts out. Instead I got the studio version of the song playing in the background while I watched various footage of the guys on tour. But, the acoustic version of the same song made up for my disappointment. Who would have ever thought that "Letters To The President" would sound so great as a piano-driven ballad?
I like Hawk Nelson, so this was a nice addition to my collection, but I am still wondering why the record label did the whole re-release thing. I would have enjoyed an EP with the videos just as much!
