Joe Henschel - 'Capture Me'

Joe Henschel's debut CD, Capture Me, is worship music with an acoustic ballad flare that works well but doesn't have any particular stand out style that makes separates him from the rather large pack of contemporary worship leaders saturating the airwaves today.

Joe Henschel has long been well known in the San Diego Christian music scene as a sincere worship leader who sings for all of the right reasons. In a perfect world, that sincerity alone would be enough to make this album a hit, but as we all know, our world is far from perfect. With more and more singer/songwriters stepping into the worship arena, newcomers have to have some extra spark to make them stand out among the likes of Chris Tomlin, Shane & Shane and Charlie Hall. I didn't find it with Joe, but there was enough talent to make me believe that he is more than capable of producing it as he continues to grow in his ministry.

You'll hear that talent in his cover of Matt Redman’s "You Never Let Go" as well as his own tunes, "Grace Falls," "My Heart Speaks" and "Creation Cries Out" (a song with perfect delivery and passion that could give Tomlin a run for his money).

If you're looking for worship music that jumps out as the next biggest thing since sliced bread, you probably should look elsewhere. However, if you're looking for some sincere tunes from a talented newcomer who has a lot of room to grow and spread his wings, Joe Henschel may be right up your ally.
