Guide Review - Jonny Lang Turn Around
Quiet acoustic testimony Only A Man will hit you hard. When Langs wife Haylie lends her honeyed tones to the mix, it brings an almost angelic quality to this show-stopping song. But dont relax too much. Next up is the power funk of Dont Stop For Anything, followed by the joyfully encouraging Anythings Possible, funk guitar rocking its way through a Martin Luther King dream, no less. Then it's back to the swishing brushes and whispering vocals on the poignant Last Goodbye.
The bottom line is that Turn Around is fourteen songs of generous revelation and joyful exhortation. Lang has never sounded more committed, more focused, or more sure of his gifting. Even without the spiritual connections, youd be hard pressed not to thoroughly dig this extraordinary album from an artist who seems to have found the groove he was made for.
