Christian Tween Band Mission Six is made up of 5 tweens/teens between the ages of 12-14. They are - Noah (lead vocals, guitar), Issac (vocals, keys), Michael (vocals, bass), David (drums) and Anthony (lead guitar). A perfect fit for Radio Disney and fans of the Jonas Brothers, this group has one major difference going for them ... they are very open about their faith and you even hear it in their music ... not just their PR.

Mission Six - 'Superhero' - The Review

When I started hearing the buzz about the new Radio Disney tween sensation, Mission Six, and how they were Christian, I admit I was skeptical. This would hardly be the first time that a band aimed at tweens/teens was billed as Christian, and then turned out to be -- well -- not exactly Christian in their lyrics. But, because I like their publicist and my daughter's (8 and 13) were bugging me about the band, I sat down with a cup of coffe this morning and gave them a listen.

I must say that I was pleasantly surprised and 5:30 am started looking a little better. (Since I am not a morning person even in my wildest dreams, that is a huge thing in my world.)

These kids have it all -- talent, charm, energy in huge amounts, the ability to truly tone it down for "Walk a Mile" and faith that shines through their lyrics like a beacon in a pitch black night.

Yes ... I was impressed by Mission Six in a big way and anything that can impress me before 6 in the morning is truly a news event!

Kicking Things Off With an Important Message

Superhero opens up with "Future." The speed was a litle hyper for pre-sunrise, but the message was the real eye-opener.

    We write our future today
    With every choice we make
    Every word we say

In a world where kids are advised to "live in the moment," this was an impressive alternative. Yes Virginia, the choices you make today will have an impact on your tomorrows.

"Monday Morning" continued along the same lines. A little too bubble-gum for my 40'ish taste, but with another good message.

This day could possibly be the day that life could change
And I could share your grace

Segue right into the only slighter slower "Take it From Me" with it's Miley Cyrus type of delivery. The kids talk about wearing masks to fit in and how what you get is never what it seems. Wow! The first step to growing in Christ is admitting that the mask that the world sees isn't necessarily the real you and these 12 - 14 year old kids already get that. Can you say "wisdom beyond their years?"

Ditto those thoughts on "Better Me."

You can see right through to me a shining star with imperfections
Even though I may be hiding deep inside
You wait so patiently cause I'm a living contradiction
You can always see the better me.

With the exception of a remake of The Go-Go’s "We Got the Beat," the entire ablum runs like that. Musical talent with real-live messages that can and will make a difference in the lives of the kids that hear them. Wow and wow again.

Parents may think that they're a bit too old to enjoy these kids, but don't write them off simply because of their age. Their messages are ageless and their talent is undeniable. And if you have tweens, run, don't walk, to your nearest music store and get this CD. Knowing that your kids are getting such a great peer example will truly be music to your ears.
