Stellar Kart - 'Expect the Impossible'
Some of the songs on Expect The Impossible started out with that sense of new and different and I had high hopes, but then, after the intro, would immediately rush back to the usual and customary SK sound. "Eyes" with its 80s Duran Duran sound and "I Give Up" with a heavier opening are both great examples of that.
Of course, I have to keep in mind that I'm 40-years-old and listening for musical growth, lyrical depth, technical pizzazz and songs that I can relate to. Plus, I'm not their target demographic. Stellar Kart works hard to deliver their message to the youth and according to my 13-year-old daughter, they haven't missed the mark in any of their 3 releases. She loves Expect The Impossible and feels like the messages in the songs hit the mark because they're so direct and simple. Hearing her sing along with SK's version of "Jesus Loves You" is just as much music to my ears now as it was to hear her singing the Sunday School version when she was 5. "Innocent" is another tune that I absolutely love seeing her listen to.
Great Messages for Young People
- I know why the good old days are gone
Cause everyone just tolerates whats wrong
I'm not some empty space for rent
Oh yeah ... thank you Stellar Kart for delivering that message to my child! During those times when I'm the village idiot and her friends at school know everything about everything, knowing that she is listening to what you guys are saying about living right ... and knowing that she is paying attention ... well, that helps me sleep at night!
Stellar Kart - 'Expect the Impossible' - The Bottom Line
Stellar Kart may have missed my mark, but they certainly hit the one that they were actually aiming for ... the hearts of our youth.
