The Bottom Line

While I'm generally not all that fond of compilations, Music Inspired By The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe isn't your average compilation. The artists featured on this project inspire a unified feeling of wonder and magic, making it something special.

Guide Review - Music Inspired By The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

The opening notes of "Waiting For The World To Fall" by Jars of Clay seem to transport you right to Narnia and the CD takes off from there. Next, Jeremy Camp, in pure Jeremy fashion, takes us into the realm of Edmund with "Open Up Your Eyes." Steven Curtis Chapman brings a celtic flair to the table with the whimsical "Remembering You."

Rebecca St. James, tobyMac and David Crowder Band all offer up extremely strong tunes, which vary the mood of the CD nicely.

It's obvious that every artist that was included on this project was truly inspired by C. S. Lewis' book and put their hearts into their musical offerings. Maybe it's just the warrior spirit in me, but I was surprised to not hear any songs that reminded me of the battle between good and evil, the bottom line of the book itself. I would have liked to have seen a bit more variety in styles, including the whole edgy, battle thing, but even without it, the CD, in itself, was a good offering.

I really can't wait to see the movie and am counting the days until it's December release.
