In my family, we always make a big deal about birthdays. They only come once a year and your birthday is a time when you should feel truly loved and cherished by your family. Since we are joint heirs with Christ, children of the living God, then we must never forget that this time of year, the Christmas season, is the time we celebrate the birth of Christ.
Sometimes, with all of the hustle and bustle of shopping, decorating, baking, celebrating, etc. it's easy to let the reason behind it all slip through the cracks momentarily. So the next time you're at the mall, braving the crowds, or standing in the line that never seems to end at the grocery store, and you're starting to get impatient because you have so many things left to do, take a deep breath and say "Happy early birthday Jesus." You'll feel better for it.

(You have to love this kid's taste!)Isaac says that the best Christmas gift he's received was his iPod and his favorite Christmas memory is of snow. "My best Christmas memory is when we got two feet of snow (which is unusual for southern Indiana). My dad formed it to make a luge – then we would pour water over it at night, so that it would freeze overnight. The next day we would sled down it doing time trials and stuff like that."

My husband has announced that he wants our "family gift" to be a home theater system, complete with a big screen, flat panel TV. - Whenever I go on my soup kicks, after about three days my husband and kids start to riot, demanding "real" food. (As if soup isn't real.) Since I know that it's coming, I'm going to head it off at the pass with a truly delicious steamed fish dish tonight.
