Merry Christmas!
Bible Verse of the Day
- Luke 4:42-43 (American Standard Version)
42 And when it was day, he came out and went into a desert place: and the multitudes sought after him, and came unto him, and would have stayed him, that he should not go from them.
43 But he said unto them, I must preach the good tidings of the kingdom of God to the other cities also: for therefore was I sent.
The people wanted Jesus to stay, yet he went out to other cities, where he may or may not have been welcomed.
The word that passage brings to mind is "comfort-zone." It's so easy to get into a comfortable place and never want to leave. Sometimes I catch myself doing that with people ... speaking openly of Christ to those that I know are Christians, yet holding back when I'm not sure what the other person believes because my comments may not be welcomed. It's those times that I give myself a little mental shake. Jesus didn't die for me so I could keep Him secret and all to myself. I'm a Christian, which means that Jesus is a part of me and my life. He's what I'm about. While that doesn't mean that I need to end every sentence with "praise God," it does mean that in presenting myself to others, I shouldn't leave out the most important part of me because it might not be well received!

AudioA announcing that they're retiring was a sad moment in 2006, but the album softened the blow a bit.

- A Christmas Carol (1938 version)
While this isn't the version starring Alistair Sim, it's still a classic family favorite.
Holiday Tip of the Day
- Some good friends of ours are due to have their first baby any day now. One of the items on their Christmas/baby shower wish list is a stroller. Since our youngest is almost 7-years-old, it's been a while since we had to shop for baby strollers. Lucky for us, our Guide to Baby Products, Heather Corley, has a great series on Baby Strollers for Every Lifestyle so we'll be able to pick out a good one.Baby Strollers for Every Lifestyle
Recipe of the Day
- Since we had dessert every night over the weekend and it's Monday, (work and school), I'm not baking tonight. Instead, I'm making a favorite family treat (one that involves eggplant and is so delicious that even my six-year-old, who isn't the world's biggest eggplant fan, loves it!) Rhonda Parkinson, our Guide to Chinese Cuisine, has a recipe for Spicy Szechuan Eggplant that is easy to make and easy to fall in love with. Get the recipe.
