And the word pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.
And God said to him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life, neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies, but hast asked for thyself discernment to understand judgment;
behold, I have done according to thy word: behold, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart, so that there hath been none like unto thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

Everyone I know has a "wish list" of blessings that they hope and pray that God will grant them. I've heard everything from asking for long life and good health to praying that their child will get that college scholarship they're applying for to beseeching God to either turn the heart of the neighbor with the trashy yard or make him move! I'm sure that you have a list of people and things that you pray for daily. Is discernment at the top of your prayer list?

Recipe of the Day

There is very little that I don't like about the Christmas season. In fact, the only thing that I can think of (other than people going out of their way to be "non-offensive" to the world at large by wishing me a "happy holiday" instead of saying "Merry Christmas") is the fact that it's too cold to grill.
