Daryn became a dear friend of mine during The Revolution Metal Festival so I’ve been able to hear about this since the idea was first born. I’ve been able to watch it grow and blossom and I’ve been blessed by it. Not one single time have any of the differences that we, as Christians, seem to wall ourselves in with, been mentioned. No one involved in this festival cares who’s Baptist, who’s Methodist, who’s Full Gospel, etc. Not a single person cares that the church is in Mexico instead of in the states. (From the beginning the members of Narnia, Mortification and Saviour Machine haven’t cared that the church in need isn’t in their home countries either and neither have their fans). Holy Soldier, the promotor and fans are donating money to the church and portions of the t-shirt sales, as well as 100% of the proceeds from a raffle for a guitar signed by all of the bands will go to the church in Mexico.
This is a big part of what Christianity is about. I believe that this is a shining example of exactly what Jesus meant when He said "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” in John 13:34-35. Christians loving one another so much that we’re willing to overcome our differences in life to make a difference in someone else’s life.
