Band With A Mission

By Kim Jones, About.com

Band With A Mission is a Christian talent search and battle of the bands that searches for local talent all over the country, picking the best bands to compete in the final showcase in front of Susan Riley, president of Fervent Records, and her A&R team. Five finalists will be picked from each of the three regional locations, Nashville, TN, Canton, OH, and Lincoln, NE.

All entrants receive an artist assessment from the judges, an AirPlay Direct Digital Press Kit (DPK), a copy of the Band With a Mission Partners and Sponsors Success and Networking Guide, a 6-month membership to Indie Community (www.indiecommunity.com) and access to various other promotions from the sponsors. The grand prize winner will receive a deal to release a record with Fervent, a $20,000 management contract and a radio promotions package. Development Deals with indevo RECORDS are also up for grabs.

The winner of last year's competition was Rush Of Fools (formerly Poor and Wretched). After winning, the band turned down several offers from major labels and signed to Midas Records (home of Jessie Daniels). In addition, the band signed a management deal with Patton House Entertainment and has added a deal with the Greg Oliver Agency (BarlowGirl, Mark Schultz, Big Daddy Weave, Todd Agnew) for booking.
