When I spoke with Stellar Kart's lead singer Adam Agee I got to see what really drives this guy. It’s all about the kids and connecting with people for this energetic band. “It’s hard for some artists to really take time to connect with people because you’re on stage for however long, and then you sign autographs, and then it’s time to pack up and move on to the next city,” Adam explains. “But we started out in youth camps where you get to be with the kids for a longer period of time. You get to hang out with them, play around with them. They will respect a lot of what you say because you’re in a band. Everything you say they will listen to with a little more thought. You get the opportunity to share with them what you believe and why and it really impacts them, which for us is very cool.”

It is their desire for real connection that leads them to cover real life issues in their music. Stellar Kart is not afraid to tackle the gritty realities of life in their music, be it depression, suicide, or any other challenge.

“We like to deal with issues that either we ourselves faced at a younger age or are dealing with now in our own lives or the lives of friends. But we try to leave with as optimistic impression as possible and give people hope to help them on the other end of what they’re going through,” Adam reveals. “We’re in a position of responsibility, and we’ve been preparing for the last several years so that we can stand up to the tests and are ready to do the right thing. The whole reason we play our music is to do ministry, to hopefully work in as many kids’ lives as possible. And we’re all in agreement with that position, or we couldn’t work together or stay together.”

Adam’s voice rings with sincerity as he speaks and it is easy to sense the deep level of commitment these band members share. I asked him about the central message they’d like kids to take away from Stellar Kart’s music.

Adam responds immediately and from the heart. “We realize that we can’t make it through life on our own. When you come to the realization that you need God, you see that He was actually there when you were going through your tough times. He had a plan to make it better, maybe better now, or maybe better two years from now, but He’s in charge. On this new album especially we want to acknowledge that that we’ve given up control of our lives to God.”
