What do you think was the biggest moment in Christian music during the past 10?

“Oh, I think for me it was MercyMe and "I Can Only Imagine." Very few songs come around and make the impact on an entire culture like that song did. You can't plan on a song taking off like that. God dropped that on in Bart's lap right when it was supposed to arive. Once in a lifetime ... it was special.”

What has been the biggest moment in your own ministry over the past 10 years?

"I would say it was riding my bicycle across the country doing concerts, raising awareness and a quarter million dollars for widows and orphans. A friend told me once that music wasn't going to be the thing that left the bigest mark in my career, but music would help get me the platform to make the biggest difference in peoples lives. I hope I can continue in doing those things that define a career and a life as 'living well.'"

What has been the biggest moment in your personal life?

"Oh...I think I might have jumped the gun and answered both in the above question. Like my teacher said in 3rd grade..make sure you read all the questions on the test before you answer the first one. I'll also add that getting married to my sweet wife Kate was not only one of the biggest moments, it for sure, was the best decision that I ever made."

What is your biggest goal for the upcoming 10 years?

Word
“You know, I want to live life (as well as write songs) with boldness. That may mean I am working along side my wife in Africa doing mission work and then weaving those experiences into my songs. More than anything, I don't want my life to look "normal" whatever that means. I tell my wife all the time that being adopted has had a profound impact on me. For whatever reason, God and my birth mom made a decision that my life was going to be worth living.

I never want to take a day for granted. I want to make them proud in the way that I live. Even if I were to die today, I would die happy knowing that life is a gift. I don't want normal, I don't want safe. I want to knock it out of the park for the God who is letting me have this wild ride. I want to slide in, wide-eyed and totally spent, having nothing left to give and hear Him say "Well done, good and faithful servant." Can you imagine!?! My goal is to continue to live like that.”
