In New York City, Third Day opened for Vice President Dick Cheney at the Republican National Convention with I Got A Feeling, a performance that brought the convention crowd to its feet. The band spent the day, between sound check and print interviews, talking to such national radio outlets as G. Gordon Liddy, Janet Parschal and the Associated Press, and visited with FOX News hosts, Sean Hannity and Tony Snow.
What an incredible honor the play for the Vice President of The United States and be a part of encouraging people to get out there and vote, commented Third Day lead vocalist Mac Powell.
Tai Anderson, bass player for the band, added, As weve been walking on this wire we saw a great opportunity to share our hearts on the matter of the HIV/AIDS crisis, and support the strong leadership of President Bush.
Immediately following the RNC appearance, the group boarded a jet for Los Angeles to sound check for a Thursday evening performance on NBCs Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The band performed the song I See Love with friends Steven Curtis Chapman and Bart Millard. The next morning, the band hosted radio interviews with 47 outlets nationwide to debut their latest single, You Are Mine.
Reflecting on the Tonight Show performance, guitarist Mark Lee, commented, What an incredible place to be able to represent our industry with friends Steven Curtis Chapman and Bart Millard regarding the impact of the The Passion of Christ movie, and the overwhelming impact that Christ has had in all of our lives. He added, We appreciate our friends at radio and really wanted to share with them what has been happening. It was unbelievable to speak to the nation Friday morning via 47 live interviews - time zone to time zone - and premiere You Are Mine. We look forward to seeing all the listeners on the road this fall.
Third Day will visit more than 40 cities on the fall leg of the Third Day Live Wire tour that kicks off September 30 in Champaign, Ill.
