Since its release in September 2004, Millers CD has gained critical acclaim from major Christian and mainstream media outlets. Relevant Magazine calls Universal United House Of Prayer "a record that is not just holy, but also wholly excellent." Christianity Today lists the CD as one of its Best Christian Albums of 2004 "with gutsy and vulnerable lyrics that point to God as our one true hope and salvation." USA Today says "Miller keeps heaven on his mind without ever losing sight of the state of the world around him." The New York Times reports "The music can be cozy and old-timey ... and the songs are ornery and awestruck all at once." The Tennessean adds, "All we have to do to be duly impressed and duly entertained is to put Millers brilliant new album into the CD player and jack up the volume." As you can see, this release is getting high marks from all walks of life.
Miller has been a man of faith for almost twenty years and his previous projects have always hinted at his spiritual walk, but with the release of Universal United House of Prayer, he doesn't just hint, he brings his faith right to the top. The current state of the world, terrorism, war, and the untimely death of his brother-in-law, made Miller want to proclaim his faith clearly. The title of the CD came from an actual church in Nashville and its pictured on the cover of the album. One song that is gaining attention is the Bob Dylan classic, "With God On Our Side". Some people are viewing it as a protest tune, but Miller doesnt think it is. "That song is over forty years old and its still just as relevant. Its more of a song about people using God for whatever they want to do." Although Miller doesnt like to categorize his music, he does say that his faith is a big part of his life and he wanted to record one project that would spotlight his beliefs.
