Comprised of lead singer Olesen, bassist Case Maranville and drummer Scott Rutz, Casting Pearls formed in 2002 when Rutz completed the lineup. Having had recorded two independent albums, including the EP, Rock, Casting Pearls caught the attention of newsboys frontman Peter Furler and ultimately landed the band its first label deal.
I'm very excited to be signed with Inpop, says Olesen. Peter Furler has provided every opportunity for Casting Pearls to thrive. The Inpop staff believes in our band and our songs. I'm humbled and honored by their enthusiasm and the effort they have made in preparing for our upcoming release.
Casting Pearls is a great live band, says Furler. My first exposure to the guys was when they opened a newsboys show. Ive worked with Bryan for several years now as hes played guitar for us, and its awesome to see Casting Pearls sign on with Inpop. Weve been following this band for years.
The bands August release features 10 pop/rock tunes aimed to make the listener think and then move. The songs are comprised of lyrics from the bands personal experiences. Production on the album comes from the Grammy Award-winning team of Jason Burkum and Nathan Dantzler (Audio Adrenaline, Tree63, Kids In The Way), and the album features guest vocals by Phil Joel (newsboys) on Alright and Wasting Time. Tim Hughes and Mark Heimermann contribute cuts to the album as well.
Casting Pearls first single, Weighted, from the forthcoming release is already showing promise. The K-Love Radio Network added Alright into rotation right out of the box.
This band has impressed me with its work ethic as well as its sound, says Inpop Records General Manager Rob Poznanski. When Peter [Furler] turned me on to this band, it seemed like a natural fit given the direction of our label. We see a lot of potential in Casting Pearls.
