A’postrophe Records, launched by multi-platinum Word/Curb Records artist Jaci Velasquez, has announced the recent signing of rock group Grand Prize. The Boise, Idaho based band includes lead singer/acoustic guitarist Luke Caldwell, electric guitarist Steven Harder, bassist Tony Caruso, and drummer Nolan Mather. Grand Prize made their start while Caldwell was in Bible College and felt a calling to start making music.

Velasquez states, “I met some of the guys from Grand Prize at GMA this year and I told my team that we had to sign them. I hadn't even heard their music or seen them live but I knew they were right for A'postrophe. They had come highly recommended from the A&R and marketing team and I just clicked with them. I got to know their hearts and thought, ‘So now what do they sound like and can they sing?’ We ended up signing Grand Prize before I heard how amazing their songs were. I wasn't worried because I knew that if the songs were as incredible as their hearts and ministry then we had found something spectacular.”

Dion Lopez, Head of A&R of A’postrophe Records continues by saying, “Grand Prize is one of those groups that should have been signed years ago. They almost didn't need a label they were doing so well on their own. When I saw them live I flipped over the energy and zeal in their performance. I became a fan instantly. They have such a deep connection to their fans through their music. Although we were a little worried the band wouldn't want to sign with a new label, we knew something bigger than the music was at play here. We all knew A'postrophe had to be there new label home."

Lead singer Luke Caldwell says, “Grand Prize is a ministry before we are a band. We want to bring hope to the discouraged, love to the lost and exhortation to the backslidden. God can do in a day what we can’t do in a lifetime so we desire to seek Him everyday. We are just four very simple guys that want to make a difference for God’s Kingdom. We felt that A’postrophe Records was the perfect fit for us as we just wanted to be with a label that truly loved our music and wanted to partner with our ministry,” Caldwell continues. “I believe A’postrophe is going to be a light in this industry; they are seeking to serve those around them. They have the hearts for people and strive for excellence.”

Their upcoming album titled Identity, produced by Scott Pergande and being released on January 25, 2005, is a mix of true life stories as well as encouraging messages to all regarding the Christian walk. This album follows their 2002 independent release titled Reveal Your Love that garnered Rock chart success and sold over 8,000 to an already established fan base from their extensive touring.
