The Swift worked with producers Jason Burkham and Nathan Dantzler (Audio Adrenaline, Tree63) to create ten new songs for Today, all but one written by the band. The piano-based threesome, consisting of Britt Edwards (piano, lead vocals), Mike Simons (bass, vocals) and Trae Drose (drums), have crafted an album of solid piano-based pop and rock hooks, interspersed with passionate instrumental creativity.
We are really excited about where we are right now in our lives, with our music and in our ministry, said Edwards. Today encompasses all of that, and is the culmination of everything that has gone on in our lives over the last two years. We have had some incredible life experiences and wonderful opportunities since the release of our first record, and its amazing to listen to this album and realize how much God has brought us through to get where we are today.
We really believe in this band, in who they are and in what they are doing musically, said Troy Vest, general manager for Flicker Records. Were excited about this sophomore project and look forward to continued success for The Swift as they hit the road in support of this album.
The Swift will maintain a heavy appearance schedule before and after the release of Today, including festival dates and performances at the WisdomWorks Ministries Planet Wisdom conferences in Chicago; Charlotte, NC; Little Rock, AR; Dallas; Ft. Worth and Santa Ana, CA, as well as the ministrys three 86 Hours summer camps in the Ozarks and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The band will also lead nightly worship sessions and concerts at the five-day Christian and Missionary Alliance Life 2004: The Journey conference July 27-31, in Phoenix, AZ, for an expected crowd of 10,000. A fall 2004 tour is in the works, with more details coming.
The Swift gained a wide fan base with the release of their self-titled debut for Flicker early last year, which brought the band the Top 10 CHR single Under the Sun and the AC single More Than Gold. The trio released a DVD in October of last year for Flicker/Chordant featuring the videos of Til I Met You and Moshing Machine, along with footage of the making of the video and band interviews.
