Born and raised in Sherman, Texas, Hunter Smith has had a passion for leading worship as well as a talent in football. With 2007 marking the year his team won the Super Bowl and his band, Connersvine was signed, it's obvious that he's done quite well with both. Smith graduated from Notre Dame and went on to be drafted in the NFL by the Indianapolis Colts as their punter in addition to the holder for kicker Adam Vinatieri. Smith has just finished his eighth season with the Colts.
"Winning the Super Bowl has been one of the highlights of my life and career. It is completely humbling that God has allowed me to not only be a part of an amazing football team, but also is giving me the chance to pursue His calling in music." said Hunter Smith in a press release. "I feel just as strong of a call to worship leading and ministering through music as I do in football."
Chris Wilson began playing guitar at the age of ten and was helping on the worship team at his local church by the time he was in middle school. With a passion for God and music, Wilson has continued to develop his skills as a musician, songwriter, artist and worship leader.
“If someone would have asked me a few years ago to sit down and write out my musical path, it would not have included a professional football player,” said Chris Wilson. “We met leading worship at our church and God opened the door to Connersvine. We may not be the most traditional duo, but INO Records, Third Coast Artist Agency and BrickHouse Entertainment have helped us to see the unique opportunity in our situation.”
Making the most of the off-season and wasting no time to record their INO Records’ label debut, Connersvine entered the studio with award-winning producer Pete Kipley (MercyMe, Rebecca St. James, The Afters) just days after the Super Bowl win.
