Rocketown Records recently announced the signing of four-piece pop band The Swift. The band will release its third national album and Rocketown debut, Singing Back to You, on Oct. 10 before heading out on a fall tour with labelmate The Turning and special guest Josh Wilson.

The Swift was founded as a worship band in North Carolina in 1998, with piano man/vocalist Britt Edwards and bassist/vocalist Mike Simons as the founding members. Their 2002 self-titled debut was followed with 2004's Today (a great album with much more depth that you would expect from a pop band). With lots of time performing at camps and conferences every year as well as opening tours for Mercy Me and Audio Adrenaline, The Swift brings a large and well established fan base to Rocketown (always a draw for a record label).

Rocketown Records President Don Donahue said, "The Swift is a band I have known of for a couple years. They are men who take to heart the call to live Christ in front of kids on a daily basis. This project may be our first together, but it's been years in the making in front of camps and concert crowds across the nation."

In a press release, The Swift's Edwards said, "All of our records have been and will continue to be worshipful because that's such a big part of what we've always done live. I call this our "official" worship record because this is the first one that we've really concentrated totally on worship and what that means to us. With this record we are seeing God as a wonderful creator who has been, in a sense, singing to us through the beauty of creation, and this album is our response."

The first radio single off of the new album, called "Nothing But the Blood," will hit radio on July 28. The band will be playing several summer camps and conferences and will hit the road with the Fall 2006 "Back to You Tour" with RKT Music band The Turning and special guest Josh Wilson. The dates are currently being booked.
