Since their formation in the late '80s, Newsboys have had twenty-one #1 radio hits, 5 gold records and they have sold over 6 million albums. They have won 2 Dove awards, started their own record label (Inpop Records) and have been featured in more secular media outlets than most Christian bands. In fact, the band has been so popular in the mainstream that in 2002, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame paid tribute to Newsboys by presenting a special concert featuring a Newsboys set (Newsboys: Thrive - From The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame).
1. "Shine"
The 1995 Dove Rock Song of the Year, from the Dove Rock Album of the Year Going Public which went gold in 1997, "Shine" is a perennial Newsboys favorite.
2. "It Is You"
From Thrive, "It Is You" was the first single released to radio.
3. "Spirit Thing"
"Spirit Thing," from Going Public, which went Gold in 1997, is off of Newsboys' sophomore release from a major label.
4. "Wherever We Go"
The popular radio single from Go can rock any stadium just as well as it rocks your iPod.
5. "Entertaining Angels"
Coming from Step Up to the Microphone, the first album Newsboys released after the departure of John James, "Entertaining Angels" features Peter Furler and bassist Phil Joel both doing vocals.
6. "Something Beautiful"
'80s dance rock is the sound that Newsboys' "Something Beautiful" from Go brings to the mix.
7. "Going Public"
The title track from this Gold certified album was the first Newsboys song I ever heard, so I had to include it on the list since it made me a real fan.
8. "I Am Free (Who The Son Sets Free)"
This cover of Desperation band's song may have been better placed on adoration or devotion, but it is still a beautifully done song.
9. "Reality"
Coming from the Gold certified Take Me To Your Leader, "Reality" has something of a disco feel with a sweet chorus line.
10. "He Reigns"
"He Reigns" made a re-appearance on He Reigns: The Worship Collection, the last album that Newsboys did on the Sparrow Records label.
