The name Trey Mills might not ring any bells for you, but believe me, you've heard his work. With writing/co-writing, production, and mixing credits for artists ranging from Boyz II Men to Michael Jackson to Pat Metheney, his work has been all over the radio airwaves, on Billboard, MTV, the GRAMMY Awards and the JUNO Awards.
"Saving Me" is a very personal song, written from a very personal place in Trey's life ... the moment that everything changed.
"I wrote Saving Me at a time of major transition in my life. I wasn't happy in my relationships, my work or my life," he explained.
"I was traveling across Canada with fellow singer/songwriter Zoe Bentley and a couple of other musicians. Shows in western Canada are often over 500 miles apart so we spent a lot of time driving, listening to music, talking, philosophizing, and taking in the sights of the beautiful country." Basically there was space to really connect with my reality and to consider what I wanted to get out of this life."
"Ultimately I met someone who made me reconsider everything I stood for. In 'Saving Me' there are genuine awakenings that I think shine through quite authentically both lyrically and melodically. It is an inspired song as I was truly inspired; I felt that for a moment I had found my place in this world. It was a beautiful feeling of reassurance and a belief that this world has everything to offer us."
