and the other moms in his life

Moms don't get weekends off, sick time or vacation days and they work 24/7, 365 days a week. However, moms do get bonuses and one such bonus is Mother's Day. Mother's Day may be celebrated on different days in different countries, but in all countries it does one thing ... honor mom!

Glenn Lavender, the bass player for the Christian modern rock band downhere, shares his thoughts about his mom and the other women in his life.

"Well I guess I'm like too many other sons and daughters who are looking at the calendar and realizing that Mother's Day is less than a week away and I still haven't done anything to prepare.  Should I buy her chocolates?  Flowers?  Dinner?  Nah, been done so many times.  I need to be more original than that.  Breakfast in bed?  Does that even still work for an adult child?  Hmmm, I wonder, maybe an adult child preparing breakfast in bed makes it original? . . .  Then there is also my wife who is now a mother.  What exactly is the husbands responsibility to his wife on Mother's Day anyway?  This will be our third one and I still haven't figured that out.

What I have figured out though is that I have a mother, a mother-in-law and a wife (who is a mother) who constantly give of themselves for their children.  John 15:13 seems to be a theme in my life right now and all of the mother's in my life live it out to the full every day with their children.  "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends."  So what I need to do this Mother's Day (besides buy the all-important card and gift) is show my love for each of the mothers in my life by being willing to lay down my wants and needs and serve them in the best way I know how."
