Lyrycyst, the Christian alternative rapper, shares his thoughts about 2007 and his New Year's Resolutions for 2008.
- Q. What is the biggest thing that God has done in your life in 2007?
A. Lyrycyst: Honestly, the biggest thing God has done for me this year is allowed me and my wife to learn how to be a team. It's not always easy being an artist that's always traveling and is consumed by the music industry. Since 2007 was our first year of being married, I thought this would be a primary struggle in our relationship. How exactly do you find a balance, right? It wasn't a real struggle at all though. God opened up doors for my wife to travel with me on every tour I did this year, and we had some amazing quality time in the midst of the madness and chaos. She has become my "partner in crime" and I wouldn't have it any other way.
- Q. What is the hardest lesson that God has taught you in 2007?
A. Lyrycyst: I think the hardest lesson I have learned this year is patience. This has got to be one of the hardest qualities to obtain and be content with. Sometimes I get lost in my dreams and goals and things start moving too fast for me to handle. I believe God always knows how to slow us down and make us take a break, whether we want to or not. He doesn't want us to lose focus and dive into things too quickly.
- Q. What are your New Year's Resolutions for 2008?
A. Lyrycyst: My New Year's Resolution this year is to lose weight... just kidding. I think my resolution this year is to finish my book. I've been writing my first book entitled "eighteen" for the past year, and I feel like I've been moving at a snail's pace. I'm somewhat of a perfectionist so I can't just sit down and write whatever comes to my mind. I have to critique it over and over before I move on. So hopefully I can pick up the pace and finish it before I'm writing this again next year!
