By , About.com Guide

As 2008 comes to a close and 2009 is on the horizon, it's a perfect time to look back on what God has taught us over the previous year. New Year's Resolutions are made with promises to ourselves to do better at certain things next year.

Several popular Christian / Gospel artists look back at 2008 and share their New Year's resolutions for 2009 ...

Rush of Fools - Wes Willis

Wes was asked ...

  • What was the most important thing God taught you this year?

"God has opened my eyes in a new way this year being a newlywed. When I think that I'm totally in control and have a handle on it, that's when God kicks me and lets me know to fully hand over every situation that I face. It's then I find His peace and joy covering me."

  • What is your Resolution for 2009? How long did your '08 resolution last?

"I'm not sure if I've ever really made/kept a new year's resolution in my life! Come on, how can I guy that forgets his OWN lyrics remember to stay on course with a new year's resolution? I'm going to try to cut sodas out for as long as possible. Every tour we go on, I do it so why not continue? Man, I love Mountain Dew..."

Rush of Fools - Kevin Huguley

Rush of Fools - Wonder of The WorldMidas Records
Kevin was asked ...

  • What was the most important thing God taught you this year?

"To trust His sovereignty and provision. For months, we had our house up for sale in the toughest housing market we've seen. We felt that God wanted us to move closer to our church, but we couldn't sell the house. We learned to remain confident in His will and timing, no ours."

  • What is your Resolution for 2009?

"I don't do resolutions. I would keep one for about five minutes before forgetting about it (I have a poor memory). I will encourage those that are blessed with a good memory to make the best of the New Year, whether it is excercising, eating healthier or reading more. Whatever the case, God can use that time to begin a new road on your journey to Jesus."

Stephen Hinkle
