Top Christian Songs For the Week Ending January 8, 2011

Tenth Avenue North and Casting Crowns are the music kings in our 2012 Top 10 kickoff! Josh Wilson and tobyMac join the party with new music for the new year.

The official Top Christian Hits Chart is compiled by checking and averaging Christian charts and top play lists from all over the U.S. such as Billboard, Cashbox and Air 1 to find the most popular songs.

1. "Strong Enough To Save" - Tenth Avenue North

Tenth Avenue North - The Light Meets The Dark
Reunion Records
Tenth Avenue North's "Strong Enough To Save," the second single to chart from The Light Meets The Dark, hit the Top 10 on December 5, 2011 at #2. It starts out 2012 on top! A great song, it reminds us that only God is strong enough to save us from ourselves, our pain and the tragedy that the world throws at us.

2. "Courageous" - Casting Crowns

Casting Crowns - Come To The Well

"Courageous," which we first saw 30 weeks ago, is the first single from the new release, Come To The Well and the movie by the same name. The song had only been playing on the radio for 10 days when it started charting. The music video released on Godtube.com and within 24 hours, had already had over 100,000 views.

3. "Lift Me Up" - The Afters

The Afters - Light Up The Sky
INO Records

"Lift Me Up," which we first saw back in May of 2011, is the second radio single from Light Up The Sky. Pure pop, this song highlights faith that doesn't waver no matter what the circumstances.

4. "Fall Apart" - Josh Wilson

Josh Wilson - See You
Sparrow Records

New music for a new year, "Fall Apart" is the second radio release to come to us from last year's See You. The song was born after a friend of Josh's went through divorce and he saw day after day that our need for God is strongest when we're going through the fires of life's hurts.

5. "Waiting For Tomorrow" - Mandisa

Mandisa - What If We Were Real
Sparrow Records

Last September, we first heard "Waiting For Tomorrow." It is the latest single from powerhouse vocalist Mandisa. The song asks the question, why wait for tomorrow since tomorrow can become yesterday in a blink and if we don't pick a starting point, we will spend a lifetime waiting to make a change or take a step.

6. "My Hope Is In You" - Aaron Shust

Aaron Shust - This Is What We Believe
Centricity Music
In week #17, "My Hope Is In You" comes to us from This Is What We Believe. The piano-driven song was written while Aaron and his wife were holding onto the only hope that they could - the hope that comes from Christ - as their son battled a severe medical condition.

7. "Do Everything" - Steven Curtis Chapman

Steven Curtis Chapman - re:creation
Sparrow Records

"Do Everything," the first single to go to radio from Steven's latest release, re:creation, made it all the way to #1 last October. Now, in week #24, this song, which reminds us that every single thing that we do should please God, is still popular with fans.

8. "Turn Around" - Matt Maher

Matt Maher - The Love In Between
Essential Records
In week #14, "Turn Around" comes from Matt Maher's The Love In Between. The song reminds us that finding Jesus isn't a hard thing to do - it's not a journey filled with pitfalls and trap doors. Finding Jesus is as simple as turning around.

9. "One Day Too Late" - Skillet

Skillet - Awake
INO Records / Atlantic

In week #7, "One Day Too Late" reminds us that we shouldn't put off until tomorrow the things that we can do today. Today we can make a difference; today we can change the world. Rock with meat and meaning - what Skillet does best!

10. "Changed Forever" - tobyMac f/ Nirva Ready

tobyMac - Tonight

Our second new song is the fifth radio single from tobyMac's 2010 powerhouse release, Tonight. Funky to the core, the lyrics speak of how much we're changed by salvation.
