Weekly Top 10 Christian Hits Chart

For the week ending September 26, 2010

By , About.com Guide

Jeremy Camp and The Afters take us into the last week of September and Britt Nicole joins them with new music while she sits on the chart as the only lady in the Top 10.

The official Top Christian Hits Chart is compiled by your Guide by checking and averaging Christian charts and top play lists from all over the U.S. such as Billboard, Cashbox and Air 1 and finding the most popular songs.

1. "Jesus Saves" - Jeremy Camp

Jeremy Camp - We Cry Out: The Worship ProjectBEC Recordings

"Jesus Saves," which debuted three weeks ago, is from last month's new release, We Cry Out: The Worship Project. An original rather than a remake of the classic, this pop/rock tune reminds us that the bottom line in life, no matter who you are, is that Jesus saves!

2. "Light Up The Sky" - The Afters

The Afters - Light Up The SkyINO Records

In week #10, "Light Up The Sky" is the title track from The Afters new EP. We first heard this tune on the popular MTV show “The Hills” last June. It is also be on the new CD, Light Up The Sky, which hit stores earlier this month.

3. "Our God" - Chris Tomlin

Passion: AwakeningSparrow Records/sixstepsrecords

One of Chris Tomlin's many contributions on Passion: Awakening, "Our God" could easily become one of the anthems for the 2010 church.

4. "Get Back Up" - tobyMac

tobyMac - TonightForefront

In its 28th week, the second single to hit the Top 10 from tobyMac's Tonight is "Get Back Up." My personal favorite track on the release, this tune epitomizes the fact that as sinners, we will fall, so the question isn't will we fall or will we walk without stumbling. The question is "What will you do after you fall?" The answer should always be "Get Back Up."

5. "Born Again" - Newsboys

Newsboys - Born AgainInpop Records

The title track from the new release Born Again, which hit stores on July 13th, first came to us in late March and is still going strong. The first original Newsboys song with Michael Tait on the mic lets us know that this band still has plenty to say and a great way to say it!

6. "Lead Me" - Sanctus Real

Sanctus Real - Pieces of a Real HeartSparrow Records

In week #14 and down from #3, "Lead Me" comes from Pieces of a Real Heart. Written by Matt in response to his wife's plea that he become a stronger spiritual leader of their household, this song is powerful stuff.

7. "Dear X (You Don't Own Me)" - Disciple

Disciple - Horseshoes & HandgrenadesINO Records

"Dear X (You Don't Own Me)," which is in week #4, comes from the latest release, Horseshoes & Handgrenades. A song written to those "bad" emotions like hate, pain and shame, this tune is more radio-friendly than their usual fare, but it still rocks.

8. "Hanging On" - Britt Nicole

Britt Nicole - The Lost Get FoundSparrow Records

Debuting this week, "Hanging On" comes to us from The Lost Get Found. Musically, the tune/tempo is very teenage girlish, but the lyrics are ageless.

9. "All of Creation" - MercyMe

MercyMe - The Generous Mr. LovewellINO Records

"All of Creation" comes from the new The Generous Mr. Lovewell, which hit stores on May 4th. This powerful worship song is gaining amazing momentum at radio and will porbably be another MercyMe classic.

10. "Starry Night" - Chris August

Chris August - No Far AwayFervent Records

Our last song in the Top 10 this week comes to us from Chris August, who we met last month when his debut album, No Far Away, hit stores. "Starry Night" has an almost poetic flow to it, as Chris sings of the beauty of God's creation and how he has given his life to the one that made it all.
