The official Top 10 Weekly Christian hit songs list is compiled by your Guide by checking and averaging Christian charts from all over the U.S. such as Billboard and R&R.
Brandon Heath and Steven Curtis Chapman sit in the top spots this week while Addison Road joins the party with new music from their debut album.
1. "Give Me Your Eyes" - Brandon Heath
"Give Me Your Eyes," which was the #8 song for 2008, is off of Brandon's latest release, What If We, which hit stores on August 19, 2008. A soft melody carries a big stick on this tune.
2. "There Will Be a Day" - Jeremy Camp
This powerful and passionate song, which was the 29th most popular Christian song of 2008, comes to us from Jeremy's new release, Speaking Louder Than Before. The song has set a ton of records at radio and once you hear it, you'll certainly understand why. Outstanding!
3. "Yours" - Steven Curtis Chapman
"Yours," which debuted back in November, comes to us from This Moment. This worship anthem reminds us that God rules it all and we truly do belong to him.
4. "By Your Side" - Tenth Avenue North
"By Your Side," which also debuted in November, is the second radio single from the band's debut album, Over and Underneath. With very Jon Forman sounding vocals, the song is written from the perspective of Jesus himself, and asks some hard questions about why we don't seem to feel like he's enough.
5. "Jesus Messiah" - Chris Tomlin
"Jesus Messiah," which came in at #7 in the Top 40 Songs of 2008, is off of Chris Tomlin's 2008 release Hello Love. This song released to radio on June 13th and it was the most added song on Christian Adult Contemporary, Christian Hit Radio, and Christian Inspirational radio that week, with 97 total adds, (according to Radio & Records).
6. "Lose My Soul" - tobyMac f/ Kirk Franklin & Mandisa
"Lose My Soul," from Portable Sounds, features Kirk Franklin and Mandisa as well as lyrics that let you know, beyond doubt, just how sincere about living his life to God's standards tobyMac really is. This song came in at #17 in the Top 40 Songs of 2008.
7. "Slow Fade" - Casting Crowns
Another November debuter, "Slow Fade" is the latest radio release from The Altar and The Door. As always, Mark Hall hits home with the lyrics on this tune and the music is excellent.
8. "Revelation" - Third Day
"Revelation," which we first saw in December, is the title track and second radio single off of the new album, Revelation, which released on July 29th. This one will rock all the way to the top! Brad Avery may be missing, but the classic Third Day sound sure isn't.
9. "Hope Now" - Addison Road
Debuting this week, "Hope Now" comes from the band's self-titled INO debut. If you were to take Superchick and put them on stage with the Passion band, you would probably get this song or one very similar. Rockin' but not too hard and very upbeat.
10. "Whatever You're Doing" - Sanctus Real
"Whatever You're Doing" is a great song about finding your purpose in life off of the band's latest release, We Need Each Other.
