The official Top 10 Weekly Christian hit songs list is compiled by your Guide by checking and averaging Christian charts from all over the U.S. such as Billboard and R&R.
Jeremy Camp and Tenth Avenue North are still ruling the roost but we've got plenty of new music to add to the mix this week. Michael W. Smith, MercyMe, Children 18:3 and Since October all come in with their latest tunes, making this first week of March very musically diverse.
1. "There Will Be a Day" - Jeremy Camp
This powerful and passionate song, in its 5th week in the #1 spot, comes to us from Jeremy's new release, Speaking Louder Than Before. The song has set a ton of records at radio and once you hear it, you'll certainly understand why. Outstanding!
2. "By Your Side" - Tenth Avenue North
"By Your Side," which debuted in November, is the second radio single from the band's debut album, Over and Underneath. With very Jon Forman sounding vocals, the song is written from the perspective of Jesus himself, and asks some hard questions about why we don't seem to feel like he's enough. This week it continues to hold steady behind Jeremy Camp at #2.
3. "Revelation" - Third Day
"Revelation," which we first saw in December, is the title track and second radio single off of the new album, Revelation, which released on July 29th. This one will rock all the way to the top! Brad Avery may be missing, but the classic Third Day sound sure isn't.
4. "Free To Be Me" - Francesca Battistelli
After debuting four weeks ago, this song moved up the charts like a bullet and is holding steady now at #4. The upbeat "Free To Be Me" is the second radio release from My Paper Heart to make the Top 10.
5. "Mighty To Save" - Michael W. Smith
Debuting this week, Smitty's version of "Mighty To Save" comes from last years A New Hallelujah. The feeling of worship practically erupts as Michael sings this powerful ballad.
6. "Finally Home" - MercyMe
Another new song in the Top 10, "Finally Home" is the latest single release from All That Is Within Me. Bart Millard's favorite song on the album because it reminds him of the day that he'll get to see his dad again, this emotional tune resonates with listeners because we all have loved ones that we long to see again.
7. "Peace and Favor Rest on Us" - Kurt Carr & The Kurt Carr Singers
"Peace and Favor Rest on Us," which we first saw on February 9, comes to us from the two disc set, Just The Beginning. Kurt really goes back to his roots on this one and in a word, it's infectious.
8. "Homemade Valentine" - Children 18:3
Debuting this week, "Homemade Valentine" is off of the bands self-titled debut and this tune rocks! Punk meets glam in this not-so-gentle reminder that if you invest all of your hopes and dreams on a person, you're sure to be let down in a big way.
9. "Souled Out" - Hezekiah Walker & LFC
Hezekiah Walker & The Love Fellowship Crusade Choir bring you to your feet with the title track from their latest release. Fun with a punch - that's "Souled Out."
10. "Guilty" - Since October
The last tune on the Top 10 is another new one this week as we first hear "Guilty" by Since October. While I'm not usually a fan of lyrics that are screamed at me, two things about this song really grabbed my attention ...
- The screaming isn't all you hear - Ben Graham sings a good bit and he's got a great voice.
- The lyrics reach out and grab you by the throat.
- guilt has got the best of me
i'm holding on to almost nothing
wondering if innocence
could ever lead to my forgiveness
