Weekly Top 10 Christian Music Hits
For the Week Ending July 12, 2009

By Kim Jones, About.com

The official Weekly Top 10 Christian Music Hits song list is compiled by your Guide by checking and averaging Christian charts and top play lists from all over the U.S. such as Billboard and Air 1.

This is a week for talented guys in the Top 10. Matthew West and Newsboys sit on top and Jonny Diaz, Jeremy Camp and Skillet come in with new tunes. Korey and Jen from Skillet are our only ladies and they represent in a big way!

1. "The Motions" - Matthew West

Matthew West - Something To SaySparrow
The last single release from Something To Say spent 20 weeks in the Top 10 and was the #1 song of 2008. Does "The Motions," a powerful song about living your life instead of just going through the motions, have what it takes to do as well as "You Are Everything?" With this song being in the top 8 on five different charts again this week (the 18th), I would have to say yes!

Brandon Heath - What if WeReunion
"Wait and See," which debuted two weeks ago, is the second radio release off of What If We. The first single was the #8 song for 2008. We will have to wait and see if this tune will do as well.

7. "By Your Side" - Tenth Avenue North

Tenth Avenue North - Over and UnderneathIntegrity
"By Your Side," which debuted last November, is the second radio single from the Dove New Artist of the Year's debut album, Over and Underneath. With very Jon Forman sounding vocals, the song is written from the perspective of Jesus himself, and asks some hard questions about why we don't seem to feel like he's enough.

8. "Two Hands" - Jars of Clay

Jars Of Clay - The Long Fall Back To EarthEssential Records
"Two Hands" comes from The Long Fall Back To Earth and in week #7 in the charts, it is still hanging on. This pop tune is easy to relate to, as it is all about our battles with the temptations of the world and how hard it can be to surrender.

9. "Speaking Louder Than Before" - Jeremy Camp

Jeremy Camp - Speaking Louder Than BeforeBEC Recordings
The second new song in the Top 10 is the second radio release from Jeremy Camp's album of the same name. With a almost power/punk beat, this tune could easily be the official battle cry of 2009 for youth and adults alike.

10. "Hero" - Skillet

Skillet - AliveAtlantic/INO/Ardent
Our last new song this week is from the upcoming release, Awake, which will hit stores in August. One of those tunes that reaches out, snatches you up, shakes you around a bit and just refuses to let go, this one will be the summer's hottest rocker.
