The official Top 10 Weekly Christian hit songs list is compiled by your Guide by checking and averaging Christian charts from all over the U.S. such as Billboard and R&R.
This week in the Top 10, tobyMac has overtaken Brandon Heath for the top slot and new music streams in from all over the style board with tunes from Run Kid Run, Ever Stays Red and Mary Mary.
1. "Lose My Soul" - tobyMac f/ Kirk Franklin & Mandisa
"Lose My Soul," from Portable Sounds, features Kirk Franklin and Mandisa as well as lyrics that let you know, beyond doubt, just how sincere about living his life to God's standards tobyMac really is. This song debuted five weeks ago and this week it moves up to #1.
2. "Give Me Your Eyes" - Brandon Heath
"Give Me Your Eyes," which debuted 14 weeks ago, is off of Brandon's new release, What If We, which hit stores on August 19th. A soft melody carries a big stick on this tune.
3. "Jesus Messiah" - Chris Tomlin
"Jesus Messiah," which debuted 16 weeks ago, is off of Chris Tomlin's new release Hello Love which hit stores on September 2, 2008. This song released to radio on June 13th and it was the most added song on Christian Adult Contemporary, Christian Hit Radio, and Christian Inspirational radio that week, with 97 total adds, (according to Radio & Records).
4. "Sure Shot" - Run Kid Run
Debuting this week, "Sure Shot" is the second single from Love At the Core to hit the Top 10. This rocker reminds us to listen to God's soft voice instead of the blaring noise of the world around us.
5. "Yours" - Steven Curtis Chapman
"Yours," which debuted last week, comes to us from This Moment. This worship anthem reminds us that God rules it all and we truly do belong to him.
6. "Say What You Will" - Ever Stays Red
From On the Brink of It All, "Say What You Will" debuts this week. This rocker (ala punk) is a gentle reminder that our lives all have purpose.
7. "Get Up" - Mary Mary
Debuting this week, "Get Up" is off of last month's release, The Sound. This tune does exactly what its title instructs ... gets you up and on your feet. It's on Billboard's dance charts as well as the gospel and urban charts. Can you say "hit in the making?"
8. "I Trust You" - James Fortune & FIYA
"I Trust You" is off of the April 2007 release, The Transformation. With a very Kirk Franklin'ish type of sound, this song (and the wonderful vocals and harmonies) soars.
9. "The Least I Can Do" - Mark Roach
"The Least I Can Do," which debuted last week, comes from Mark's 2007 release, Every Reason Why. This piano ballad has been so popular that this is the second time we've seen it on a Mark Roach release, having heard it first on his EP, Sevenfold.
10. "Always" - Jason Champion
"Always," which debuted seven weeks ago, comes to us from Jason Champion's debut CD, Reflections. With an R&B groove, this song is full of love and encouragement.
