"I've always wanted to do more of a soul-blues Christmas project," says Duncan, who considered a disc of holiday favorites and originals a great way to introduce his band to the world at large. "While the last Christmas project soared with the choir and orchestra, this one intentionally steers away from trendy sounds and towards a more classic, timeless core."
The songs on A NehoSoul Christmas! range from the sacred ("O Holy Night," "Silent Night") to the traditional ("Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "Winter Wonderland"), and includes ("Peace") by Michael McDonald as well as a Duncan original called "This Christmas."
Band member Phil Curry produced the new project, which was mixed by Randy Thomas and includes additional recording by fellow singer/songwriter Bob Carlisle. Curry is a veteran musician who has played with such artists as Denise Williams, BeBe Winans, Hezekiah Walker, Marvin Sapp, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Yolanda Adams and many more.
"I've never experienced such a high level of anticipation for a seasonal album than for A NehoSoul Christmas!," says Dan Huisinga, president of the CD's distributor TAG Artist Group. "After hearing it, I believe it could be the best selling Christmas album of the year by a Christian band."
After 30 years in Christian music, 21 albums and over 1 million albums sold, Bryan has never been more optimistic about his future. "A NehoSoul Christmas will go down in my book as the best record I've ever made," says Duncan. "And definitely the most enjoyable listening experience!"
A NehoSoul Christmas will be in stores October 25, 2005 from Red Road Records, distributed by TAG Artist Group.
