After leaving Arista, the first stop for Diamond Rio members was guiarist Jimmy Olander's basement. Each musician picked a couple of favorite Christmas songs and The Star Still Shines was born. While searching for a distribution company they heard from Word and were offered a record deal. The band already wanted to record a Christian album, so signing a deal with Word Records made good sense.
"All our music throughout the years has represented who we are," lead singer Marty Roe told The Tennessean.com's Cindy Watts. "We are believers, and I think that's shown in our music. So this seemed like a good fit and an intriguing place to take our music, to the Christian radio dial as well as country. We're interested to see how we're received on the Christian side. It's just another opportunity. We really have a lot more to say. We've been very blessed by what Arista did for us, and we have no regrets, that's for sure. It's just part of our business. Hopefully we can bring new fire into Word Records, and they seem very excited about us. The best athletes in the world get traded and that's apparently what happened to us."
