For me, August is about last minute vacations, the last of the hottest weather and school starting back. This coming August I can add plenty of music to my collection to be the back-drop for those scenarios.
Third Day - Chronology, Volume Two (2001-2006)
Chronology, Volume Two (2001-2006) offers 18 songs with brand new, live recordings from some of Third Day's biggest tour dates (including the "Wherever You Are" tour). The DVD part of the deal brings more bootleg performances, home-movie clips and an in-depth documentary that takes a look into the past 10 years of music and ministry for the award-winning band.
If you've already got Volume One then, of course, Volume Two is a no-brainer. If you don't have Volume One, this would be a great time to get both!

Casting Crowns - The Altar and the Door
From the beginning, Casting Crowns has been pure musical bliss and The Altar and the Door is no exception. Lyrics that hit bullseye after bullseye and the musical and vocal excellence that we've come to expect from Casting Crowns make their latest release a joy from start to finish. This is one of those "must have" releases that I find myself raving about to everyone that I know. I listen to it in my office while working, in my car while driving and on my phone/mp3 player when a CD player isn't handy. (If I'm starting to sound a bit like a "rabid fan," it's most probably because I am one! The music is great and the people that make up Casting Crowns are almost too awesome to be real. You won't meet a nicer, more talented group of people out there.

Needtobreathe - The Heat
When new bands come out with really strong debut releases, it makes me really wonder how they can possibly top themselves the second time around the block. Sometimes they do OK, but other times, the dreaded "sophomore slump" is what we end up with because, let's face it, hitting the national stage can be pretty exhausting.
Needtobreathe doesn't have to worry about second-time-around blues. The Heat starts strong, hits the mid-point even stronger and finishes strong with class and style.

Caedmon's Call - Overdressed
The original Caedmons Call line-up (including one of my favorite singer-songwriters in the world, Derek Webb) is back for Overdressed. More toned-down (acoustic and folk blend) than usual, the lyrics on these songs show an older, wiser Caedmon's Call. It makes for a release that is really quite easy to fall in love with. From being kids to having kids, this band has come a long way in the 10+ years they've been together. The music definitely shows that growth as do the lyrics. Overdressed is a gentle reminder of why the world fell so in love with Caedmon's Call.
Kudo's to Caedmon's Call for a job that was extremely well done.
