In 1999, the WOW Worship series started bringing us the best praise and worship of the year by some of the top artists and bands in Christian music. In 2002, they added to the brand with the addition of WOW Hits, which focused on the most popular Contemporary Christian music of the year.
WOW Hits 2013 offers up a whopping 39 songs - some of most popular hits from 2012. Though the compilation left out some songs that I would have loved to see represented, it does offer over two hours of various artists doing what they do best - singing for Jesus.
WOW #1’s marks the 17th two-disc release for the popular brand and it features all #1 hits chart-topping radio hits from 2005-2010, Contributions from award-winning artists like Mark Schultz, NEEDTOBREATHE, and Aaron Shust help give the release a very diverse sound.
As usual, with the WOW brand, when you look at the list of the artists on the set, the most appropriate word is "Wow!" WOW Hits 2011 offers up 30 songs on a 2-CD set and for the price, you get tunes by artists like Amy Grant, Josh Wilson, Big Daddy Weave, Chris August and Matthew West.
While the songs are all hits (thus the title), there are a few on here that push it over the top for me...
The choices that the Word folks made on WOW Worship Purple are simply great. The song selection flows smoothly to help listeners go beyond the veil to a place of pure worship. Brand new tunes from Matthew West and Francesca Battistelli help make this one stand out.
- "All Because of Jesus" - Casting Crowns
- "Lead Me To The Cross" - Francesca Battistelli
- "Happy Day" - Tim Hughes
- "Hosanna" - Selah
- "Desert Song" - Natalie Grant
Following the path that has made the WOW brand so popular, WOW Hits 2010 features 30 songs on 2 CDs. What makes this album stand out is the choice of hits that the WOW brand selected. "I Will Rise" by Chris Tomlin, "How He Loves" by David Crowder*Band, "City on Our Knees" by tobyMac and "Keys to the Kingdom" by Group 1 Crew show the diversity of the hits we first heard in 2009. Adding in music from Mark Schultz, Jeremy Camp, Brandon Heath and Michael W. Smith rounds the set out nicely.
Released in October 2008, WOW Hits 2009 includes music from Matt Maher, Above the Golden State and Fee. In all, 30 songs are packed into two CDs for a ton of great music.
As usual, WOW Hits packs a lot of great music by top artists into one CD.
Featuring 33 tracks, this WOW release hits all of the high points. From the worship of Michael W. Smith and the light rock of Sanctus Real to the inspirational sounds of Selah and the rock of BarlowGirl, WOW Hits 2008 offers a wide variety of sounds.
