- The Imperials (old and new) got embroiled in controversy over who had the legal use of the band name.
- Dale Thompson of Bride announced that his wife Sharon had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
- Southern Gospel legend Dottie Rambo died on Mother's Day.
- Todd Smith of Selah lost his daughter Audrey Caroline when she was only 2 and ½ hours old.
- Steven Curtis Chapman lost his youngest daughter Maria Sue in a tragic accident at home.
- Nicole Sponberg, formerly of Selah, lost her 10-week-old son Luke to SIDS.
- Christopher Laurie, the 33-year-old son of evangelist and Harvest Crusade organizer Greg Laurie, was killed in a car accident.
- Rev. Timothy Wright lost his wife and his grandson in a car accident. Rev. Wright was also seriously injured and as of today, it is reported that he hopes to be released from the hospital sometime next month.
- Ray Boltz came out of the closet.
