Denise Jones of Point of Grace Says...

  1. What is the most important thing that God taught you this year?

I suppose the biggest thing I learned this year is that I am not in control!

Although I try my best to keep things in line and work hard at keeping them that way, I will never be able to. And, God never intended me to. When I saw the devastation of the Tsunami, then the devastation of Hurricane Katrina I am aware that everything can be taken in a moment. Only God can be over all things. It's not like I've never heard that before, but for me this year it really sunk in. At some point this summer it seemed like all the efforts that I had made to make things happen either professionally or personally all began falling apart. It was during that time that I was able to say to God. I get it! I can't control it! Lord, you take it and make with it what you want. Then I began actually "believing" that He could handle it himself. Now, is it a struggle everyday for me to leave it to Him? Absolutely! But, I'm choosing day by day to believe in Him for who He says He is and that He can do what He says He can do.

    Isaiah 46:18-19

For this is what the Lord Says- he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited- he says: "I am the the Lord, and there is not other".

  2. What is your number one New Years resolution for 2006?

Simplify and learn how to listen better to what God wants me to be doing with my time. It's so hard for me to not over commit myself. When I do that with things that God's not asking me to do, it's hard for me to be generous with the time I have to do what God wants me to be doing.
