December 1st, the countdown to Christmas begins. BarlowGirl is going to help get me into the holiday spirt and then a wonderfully simple Italian soup will warm me up. Then tonight I'll be watching some classic Christmas shows on DVD.
Merry Christmas!
Bible Verse of the Day
- John 11:25 (New Living Translation)
Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.
Lazarus had been dead for four days when Jesus called him from the grave. Many people are spiritually dead for decades before they answer the call of Christ. The beauty of salvation is that the smell of our sin is never too much for Jesus to bear.

Christian Musical Gift Idea of the Day
- 'Never Going Back To OK - The Afters
This is a really strong sophomore effort from The Afters that Christian pop/rock fans will love. They are establishing themselves as a band with a lot of all-around appeal to Christian fans as well as secular audiences.
Family Movie of the Day
- The Original Television Christmas Classics: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer/Frosty the Snowman/Santa Claus is Coming to Town (Compare Prices)
The original versions of these classic Christmas tales will delight the whole family.
Did You Know ...
... That DecembeRadio's lead guitarist Brian Bunn's favorite Christmas song is "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer," his favorite Christmas album is Winter Wonderland by Point of Grace and his favorite Christmas movie is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation? On the subject of Christmas gifts, he says that the best gift he has received was his first acoustic guitar. The best gift he has given? An engagement ring! His favorite Christmas tradition is opening one present on Christmas Eve.
Christmas Craft of the Day
- Christmas Table Runner
Two borders decorate the layout, one cut from narrow green strips and the other from wider pieces of floral and both repeat fabrics used in the quilt blocks. Make a Christmas Table Runner
Recipe of the Day
- December 1st kicks off the 25 Days of Christmas, so to celebrate, I'm making something simple, yet filling because I know that simple is a word that won't be in my vocabulary for much of the rest of the month.
Jota di Base - Bean and Sauerkraut Soup. I can start soaking the beans in the morning and then by the time I'm ready to start cooking, they'll be ready and I won't have much more to do.
Saying Merry Christmas ...
